Paani Jeevan Project - for Thirsty Birds & Animals

Paani Jeevan Project - for Thirsty Birds & Animals

Every Summer, Thousands of stray animals on the city’s streets succumb from the heat and lack of access to clean drinking water-many animals die due to dehydration and diseases caused by polluted water that they drink from gutters – Under this project we make arrangements for clean drinking water for Birds & Animals.

With the mercury rising, it's time to slather on the sunscreen and make sure you are well-hydrated. But, every summer, thousands of stray animals on the city's streets succumb from the heat and lack of access to clean drinking water. And that's the reason why a group of animal lovers of Ghaziabad under the inspiration and guidance of Acharya Tarun has come up with PAANI JEEVAN PROJECT- for Thirsty Birds & Animals

Every Summer, Thousands of stray animals on the city’s streets succumb from the heat and lack of access to clean drinking water-many animals die due to dehydration and diseases caused by polluted water that they drink from gutters – Under this project we make arrangements for clean drinking water for Birds & Animals.

A Press conference was called on 8 April and Big size water cemented container with a capacity of 70 Liters was planted near Nashirpur Railway Crossing for Stray animals & Cemented Containers were distributed to RWA representatives.

Modus of Operandi

· We provide FREE cement bowl to individuals/animal lovers which they can place close to their home, office, gali etc and fill it with fresh clean water once every day. They just have to keep the bowl clean and filled with water." Each bowl will contain about three litres of water.

· Also with the help/support from RWA’s,Vyapar Mandals,Schools etc we put big water Containers for animals on roads etc.

While each volunteer will be the co-ordinator of the place where the bowl has been placed, there will also be an area co-ordinator. "Area co-ordinators will get in touch with others every month to see what help they need or if the bowl needs to be replaced.

The bowls will help alleviate the suffering of not just stray animals but also birds, says Sonia Gupta , secretary, we will see if there any practical problems and try to solve them so the project is in full swing when summer sets in.

For the PAANI JEEVAN PROJECT we have received Support from Ghaziabad Citizen Forum, Col Tejinder Pal Tyagi President RWA Federation of Ghaziabad,Sh Ajay Kr Agarwal President RWA Rajnagar,Sureshwar das ISCKON,S.Mukherjee Secretary CIHD, Priyanka Founder Helping Hearts for Children in need,Animal Lovers,PFA,Ghaziabad Administration & Social workers , NGO’s ,Individuals & all concerned Citizens of Ghaziabad .

1st January celebrated as Cloth Day

Hello......
While the rest of the Ghaziabad, like elsewhere, would be busy uncorking the champagne and partying the night away on New Year's eve, the PRERNA Ek Pahal Ek Aasha team would be driving down the streets, distributing woollens and warmth to pavement dwellers until the next morning.
New Year's Eve, observed as “Cloth Day” by Prerna, is one of the latest initiative. The Cloth Day is an extension of what we do on New Year's Eve, and
indeed throughout the winter- of driving to random places and distributing clothes to the needy.

But in order to get the public involved and sensitise them to helping the needy, we have decided to celeberate 1st January as Cloth Day. On which we ask people to donate at least one piece of cloth which will go on to give warmth to an unknown person shivering in the cold, in some corner of the country.

What we are simply saying is that donate at least one piece of cloth and start your New Year on a different note... on a more noble note, by clothing a poor person on the road, in an urban slum or in a village.

We urge you to be a part of “Cloth Day” by organizing a collection camp to collect Clothes , School related material, eatables etc by motivating others / helping us to distribute clothing to needy ones .

We distributed clothing to 2009 pavement / Slum dwellers on Cloth Day .
For more details please speak to Mr. Tarun Gupta at 9891069636 ,0120 – 2821338 / 2826025.
Happy New year 2009

RAGS TO PADS ( Sanitary Napkins Project)

Prerna Ek Pahal Ek Aasha’s latest Project to utlize donated cotton clothing for creating sanitary napkins is based on the knowledge that many woman and hence their families – suffer major health consequences on account of using unhygienic cloth during menstruating days .This can lead to infections which can cause multi - organ Failure ,infertility and in certain circumstances cervical cancer. The consequences can also be multifold,as an infection can have an effect not only on the lives of her children born and unborn. The situation in India is not one to be taken lightly ;indeed India has one of the highest infant and mortality rates in the world.Since menstruation is considered to be ‘pollution’women use the dirtiest cloth in the house – cloth that has been used to clean the floors, the bathrooms. And because it is imperative that the cloth be hidden from the neighbours,it does not ever see the light of the day. Furthermore , there are usually 2 or 3 women in a household all using the same cloth” And this context of shame ,of extreme health – risks ,we often overlook this reality and give them lectures on reproductive health and maternity care.We still have a long way to go ,but providing some clean cloth is a good first step”. A woman uses a piece of blouse and died of tetanus due to hook inside .
Prerna Ek Pahal Ek Aasha is providing clean cloth cloth / napkins to rur
al / slum woman and is actively campaigning in rural & urban India to generate awareness in this taboo issue.
